Statutory Declarations

Leaders of organisations seeking membership, where the Leader(s) are not wishing to be ordained, need to provide a Statutory Declaration to declare that they are not prohibited from working with children or subject of an Apprehended Violence Order, or similar. Making a false declaration is punishable under the relevant state or Commonwealth legislation, so you should be sure you read the declaration before you sign it. The wording also differs slightly from state to state, so be sure to download the correct form for your state. Statutory Declarations must be witnessed by a Justice of the Peace or other person authorised in your state to witness an oath.
