Privacy Policy
Merry Meet!
The privacy of visitors to this site is of the utmost importance to us.
When you visit this site, our server logs the following information, which is provided by your browser, for statistical purposes only:
- your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc); and
- the address of the referring site (for example, the previous site that you visited); and
- your server’s IP address (a number which is unique to the machine through which you are connected to the Internet: usually one of your service provider’s machines); and
- the type of browser and operating system you are using;
In addition, our server logs the following information:
- the date and time of your visit; and
- the address of the pages accessed and the documents downloaded.
All of this information we use only for statistical analysis or systems administration purposes. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities, except in the unlikely event of an investigation where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant.
Personal information collected via this site, such as in Feedback Forms, etc, including e-mail addresses, will not be disclosed to any third party unless with your consent or required by law. We do not disclose or sell information to any third party for the purposes of adding to mailing lists.
Note that when you send us an e-mail the content is transferred across the internet and may not be secure. If you have concerns about sending information in this manner then please contact us directly by mail. Also, when you use our Feedback or Send Page Link your IP Address will be recorded and sent to the Webmaster. This is to help in case of malicious or spam messages and is ignored in all normal cases. It is NOT disclosed to any third party other than an ISP or Police in cases of malicious or spam messages.
Your IP address may also be recorded in a database if you trigger the Spam and Hacker Filter on any of our online forms, or activate the Spider Bot Trap on any of the webpages. These filters are used to help stop hackers from using our form mail scripts to send spam email to people. When activated the IP address is added to the blocked address list, otherwise the information is disregarded and is not used for any purpose whatsoever. IP addresses that end up in our blacklist may also be notified to the relevant ISP to alert them to possible hacker activity. If you accidently trigger any of our spam or hacker filters then we will remove your IP address from these lists immediately upon being notified of the accidental triggering, and confirmation that you are a real person (i.e. by reply to a verification email).
History Checks
Applicants for ordination may be required to undergo a Working With Children ciminal history check prior to their ordination, however if this is required information and an authority form will be posted to the applicant for completion. Information from any online applications is not used to conduct these checks as we must first have a signed authority form to proceed.
Cookies and Java-Script
A cookie is an electronic token that is passed to your browser and your browser passes it back to the server whenever a page requests it.
The majority of the public accessible parts of this website are cookie-free. Feedback and Email Page Link forms use session cookies in order to provide security verification that the user is human and not an automated robot. These cookies contain no personal or identifiable information and expire once the form has been submitted or, at the very latest when you close your browser.
This site does not use any form of persistent or permanent cookie and cookies are not used to track pages visited or obtain any form of statistics or identifiable information.
Java-script may be used to provide some non-security related features. If you prefer not to allow Java on your browser some features may not work correctly, such as some links opening into a new browser window, etc. The “Deity of the Day” script and “Moon Phase Indicator” features do utilise Javascript in order to provide the relevant functions. These scripts are not supplied by UPCoA - refer to the relevant websites for details on their privacy policies and conditions of use policies.
Pop-Up Windows
This site does not use pop-up or pop-under windows, except some help windows that are opened deliberately by the user. Almost all internal site links open into the same browser window, except for hyperlinks to items such as PDF files, help files, etc. These may open to a new window to make viewing easier without losing your place on the original page. Some external links to other sites and links to larger views of photographs or newspaper articles will also open to a new browser window, again so you can continue to view the original page as well as the new page. Links that do open a new browser window do so using a simple Javascript code so that the page can be validated to XHTML 1.0 Strict standard. If you do not allow Java the link will still function as a normal hyperlink.
